Aviles Street located in Old Town, St Augustine, Florida, the oldest street in the USA, is a street rich with art, entertainment, history, culture and great food. Aviles Street is right off of King Street, 2 blocks from the Bridge of Lions across from the Southeast end of the Plaza de Constitution downtown.There is an arch that says Aviles Street over the entry to the street. Aviles Street has several world class art galleries filled with local art and jewelry, 3 historic museums, ghost tours, unique antique shops, clothing boutique , a custom made Sandal Shop and bars and restaurants with outdoor seating. This is the original arts district and at 11 Aviles Street, the Hamblen- Holiday House contains 10 artist studio loft spaces upstairs as well as retail businesses at street level including Aviles Gallery, Georgia Nick Gallery, P.A.S.T.A. Gallery, Candidas Clothing Boutique, Joel Bagnal,Goldsmith jewelry, Dan Holiday Leather and Bouvier Maps and Prints.
It is possible to drive down the brick Aviles Street but experiencing the street at a slower pace is much better. The history of Aviles Street goes back many centuries. Its original name was Hospital Street because of the Spanish Military Hospital and other hospitals were located here through the centuries.
